Our client the Duchy of Lancaster asked us to re-paint Lancaster castle and former Prison to freshen up the space ready for new tours and events.
We have carried out various refurbishment joinery works for Stanley House Hotel
Works including bedroom re-freshes, conference room re-modelling and repair works.
We were contracted by Sunderland and Peacock to do a complete Renovation to the property. The Architect designed the scheme to the client’s specification and then we provided a fully priced bill.
The works included project managing all the trades including, bricklayers, joiners, plasterers, electricians, plumbers and finishing trades.
Glass balustrade to the rear, Rendered external walls. Solid oak stairs with Glass balustrade, tiled throughout the downstairs.
Our client FPE Global asked us to carry out the repainting of the 100 year old covered market at Preston. The works took 4 months to complete and where phased over 3 phases so that the market could remain open.
We accessed the majority of the project using MEWP’s and scaffolding.
To aid HBS’s continuous growth, HBS has invested in the job management software.
To try a be a bit greener we have purchased 2 replacement LPG vans.
Our client asked us to design and then build these works. We used our Architect who designed the scheme to the client’s specification and then we provided a fully priced bill.
We started the works heading into November the weather slowed us down a little but we carried on through the harsh winter.
Due to the unique relationship with Mount Carmel we have carried out many projects of varying types and complexities.
The school found 3 spaces which where under used. We designed and built the new office during the 2014 summer holidays. The work involved moving walls installing steel beams and incorporating all the trades.
As you can see the Site Managers settled into the office with ease.

We have recently taken possession of our new premises. With our newly found space at Hamilton Street Blackburn we can slowly take over the world 🙂
Rumworth School contacted us to carry out a small project which no one wanted to carry out. The simple project was to install some patresses to carry some heavy and expensive interactive TV’s.
We gave them a quotation which they accepted and did the works as promised. Since then we have been back to quote for further works.
We have recently taken on Matthew an apprentice Joiner through the North Lancs Training team.
Our Architect had the plans drawn up for refurbishing the property and building a link extension to the existing garage. We priced the project on a tendered basis against 2 others and our proposal was accepted.
A time line of the project. We bug up the existing patio and drive, installed new supporting foundations and walls to architects and structural engineers specification.
The existing property is 40 years old we matched the stone work so that it blended into the existing property and matched the roof tiles accordingly.
We had to take out 5 windows and replace or remove them to allow the works to be completed. the photos below show the window removal and the progression to turning it to a conservatory.
We refurbished the whole property, including new central heating, new wiring with a backup generator incorporated into the circuit. We plastered and painted the walls and installed new finishes throughout including Karndean flooring to the Kitchen and Utility room.

Our client wanted to fully refurbish the property turning a 5 bedroom property into a stylish student let. We stripped out the whole property and carried out structural works to upstairs rooms to allow us to incorporated 2 en-suites into the existing layout.
We installed new spot lights throughout and installed internet enabled flat screen TVs to all bedrooms.
We repaired the drive and landscaped the over grown garden. We also allowed to point the chimney but on closer inspection we needed to rebuild the chimney. The fencing was repaired and stained to match.
The existing bathroom suite was removed and replaced with a shower and retiled and freshened up.
The existing kitchen was removed and we installed a 2 tone kitchen with granite effect worktops, to give a clean and polished look.
The lounge had new flooring, spot lights, internet flat screen TV and a “groovy” paint finish. The transformation is plain to see, even though my final photo is just before we removed the dust sheets from the sofas.
We emptied the conservatory, removed the existing tiles, cleaned off 10 years of dirt and brown tape and re-tiled the floor and repaired the roof.
We painted the property throughout and installed new flooring. Our client supplied graphics for the walls which we installed. All the bedrooms had internet TV’s and new furniture.
We provided the relevant test certificates including Gas Safe, NIC Electrical Certification for the new circuits and lighting.
Since our work here our satisfied client has called us to carry out further works, including a call out to replace some locks.
The drive needed widening to allow larger modern cars to park on the drive.
We took down the stone wall and stacked the stone at one side. Dug out the ground with an excavator and disposed of the spoil. Once dug out we poured a concrete strip foundation for the wall. We re-built the wall as before in random stone and back filled the wall with soil.
The project took 1 week to carry out.
Client recently moved into the renovated barn and wanted the WOW factor in the lounge.
We removed the original fire and installed a new chimney breast to house the HD TV and entertainment system. Also underneath the TV we installed the clients new HD Fire.
We installed slate cladding to the recesses to each side of the new chimney breast and then painted the room throughout.
The 40 year old parquet flooring was water damaged and had a carpet laid over the top for approx. 15 years. The fitting of gripper rods and door threshold strips severly damaged the floor and therefore needed quite a lot of work refixing the flooring. We sanded the flooring using a dust free sander and then re-coated the flooring with a 3coat system, using a 2 part water based lacquer.
Once re-coated we installed new skirting boards to finish the project.
We have a vast experience in renovating flooring from domestic parquet flooring to school halls and the Royal Mail delivery office floors. The Royal Mail floors have to be done at weekend and at nights.
We carried out painting and decorating to the Dining Room, 2 classrooms and the Pastoral Room.
This was a relatively simple project, however the school placed an order with us on the 3rd of July which is quite late for works to be carried out in the 6 week break. We managed to squeeze in the project and also managed to work around the flooring renovation which was happening in the Dining room.
This flexibility will hopefully allow us to continue to quote and carry out works in the future.
Client had staining on the bedroom ceilings due to a possible roof or chimney leak. The room was damp and would become worse as we entered into the winter period.
We advised to carry out the following to eliminate any future water ingress.
Erect pole and clip scaffold so we could work safely. We use one of the north wests best scaffold contractors Mitchells Scaffolding for peace of mind that the scaffold is safe and the men erecting are conscientious to us and our client.
Once scaffold is erected the roof is inspected in more detail by an experienced person to assess the roof and Chimney for defects.
We grinded out old mortar and re-pointed the chimney.
Replaced all the existing lead flashings with new.
Replaced 10 slates and re bedded the ridge tiles on sand and cement.
We also advised to apply a one coat water repellent to the masonry, due to the minimal cost of application against the cost to erect a scaffold.
We are busy training carrying on the SMSTS course to allow us to work for clients who require certified managers.
